Rome Bike Tours and Bike Rentals

About us

18 years ago, bike tours were simply not done in Rome. Whether no one had yet thought of it, or no one had yet dared, exploring Rome on a bike was the province of few intrepid travelers brave enough to take to Rome's streets on their own bikes.

17 years ago - in June 2007 to be exact - we started TopBike. From a modest shop in via dei Quattro Cantoni, stocked with only a couple dozen Bergamont bikes, we began designing our first routes of Rome (on the then newly-launched Google Maps!) and venturing in the city with our first guests. Right off the bat, everything had to be top: though there was no competition to stand out against, we just had to have the best-quality bikes, the safest and most impressive routes, most charismatic guides.

In terms of infrastructure and mentality Rome may not have been ready for bike tours in 2007 - and yet, the idea was a hit. Soon many other businesses joined the scene, as they recognized the great potential of the kind of time travel that only bikes can afford in Rome. Our insistence on top quality in all respects - from attention to safety to customer service and from bike quality to guide expertise - helped us thrive through the years despite growing competition.

In the meantime we have also grown. Our 800 m2 shop houses more than 300 top-quality bikes from world-renowned brands - and primarily Cannondale. We run a team of over 40 staff and guides, and every year we help over 20 000 customers discover Rome in what we feel is the best possible way. We have been Rome's N.1 Outdoor Activity on Tripadvisor for over a decade now (out of 400+ other businesses), and we boast 7000+ 5-star reviews on popular review platforms (Google, Tripadvisor, Facebook and Yelp).

We enjoy tremendously what we do, not the least because we are all bike enthusiasts in our hearts. Among us you will find cycling globetrotters, Enduro mountain bikers and road cyclists, and most of us get from A to B in the city on a bike. Join us in showing you what an experience a bike ride in Rome (or its surrounding countryside) can be!
