A tour for mountainbikers that want to have fun on this itinerary through a breathtaking scenery. A ride towards the lake of Castel Gandolfo (the summer residence of the Pope), biking through the well preserved Roman countryside, finding yourself in the true nature and discovering landscapes that were caught by numerous famous painters before.

After the Caffarella park the Roman aqueducts will arise making you understand how these masterpieces have had such an influence on human society. At the Capanelle train station the tour will continue by train to Castel Gandolfo. After 30 minutes journey  a great path for mountain bikes will lead you around the Albano lake where you can enjoy the real fun of biking. And just when it is time to relax, your guide will lead you to a nice restaurant with a wonderful view on Castel Gandolfo lake.


After lunch it will be time to head back to Rome: a nice descent will set in. Once downhill, the bike tour will follow the ancient Appia Antica; biking on cobble stones that date back more than 2300 years ago and being amazed along the road by tombs, ruins and ancient Roman remains. This tour will be a great chance to see Rome's beautiful surroundings, feel part of ancient Roman history and last but not least enjoy the fun of biking.

Know before you go

Important information

  • Please note that  70% of the route of this tour takes place off-road. For this reason, we rate the difficulty level of this tour as "Intermediate". The difficulty level becomes "Difficult" on days preceeded by rainy weather.

  • Please also note that the track around the lake is currently deemed to be under risk of landslide. For this reason, until further notice, we won't ride the loop around the lake. 

  • Child policy: The participation of Infants (aged 1-4 years) traveling on a child seat (max 55 lbs / 25 kg) and Children (aged 5-8 years old) joining the tour on a child extension are not recommended. Children aged 9 and above who are proficient cyclists can ride their own E-Bike.

  • The meal provider on this tour can accommodate vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free requests. In case of any special diets, please let us know via the Special Requirements field at checkout.

  • Cancellation policy: Customers can cancel free of charge up until 24 hours before the start of the service.
